A new map has been added to the catalogue and can be checked out online under the Wall Maps tab. The map is centred on Taranaki Maunga and covers Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki (known until recently as Egmont National Park) together with the surrounding area.

There have been numerous enquires for a map or maps showing the whereabouts all of the backcountry huts under DOC management. It proved quite a challenge as I was determined to label each with the hut name rather than some shorthand identifier. And it wasn’t so much the number of huts that was an issue,
Announcing that these are in an advanced state of preparation and will shortly be published. Each map will feature the backcountry huts managed by the Department of Conservation, referenced also to the relevant Topo50 mapsheet published by LINZ. Watch this space for an update.
